The City of Campbell River Recreation and Culture Department offers a wide variety of arts and cultural programs throughout the year. The department also assists or hosts a variety of annual special events including the Canada Day Celebration, Salmon Festival Logger's Sports, National Child Day Celebration, and the Toy & Craft Sale.

CR Salmon Festival Society

The Campbell River Salmon Festival Society is a registered charity assisting and hosting a wide range of public & family orientated activities held annually for the citizens of Campbell River. Their major event is the hosting of the Loggers Sports held each year on the second weekend of August. In 2007 the event will be held August 10, 11, and 12 weekend at Nunn's Creek Park.  The society also is involved with activities held on Canada Day including the recognition of senior achievements,  Huck Finn Fishing Derby for children and the Parade.

Museum at Campbell River

The Museum at Campbell River showcases the living history of the region with exhibits and programs presenting the rich cultures of First Nations groups and our unique coastal lifestyles.  The Museum includes a small theatre, an archives research centre, native plant garden and excellent gift shop.  Highlights include Logging, the Salmon Fishing Industry, the Ripple Rock Story and First Nations exhibits.

Campbell River Shoreline Arts Society's

"Transformations on the Shore"  Driftwood-Carving Competition

In conjunction with Canada Day celebrations, this five-day unique-to-Campbell River event brings novice, amateur and professional wood carvers to the Pacific shoreline of our community to transform log tailings into amazing works of art.

The finished sculptures are displayed in various waterfront parks and sponsors' premises for everyone to enjoy year round.
