Animal ControlCity of Campbell River Bylaw Enforcement and Animal Control Officers administer and enforce the regulations of the Animal Control Bylaw.

Inquires, concerns and complaints regarding animals should be directed to animalcontrol@campbellriver.ca.


Common issues include:

  • Barking and noisy dogs
  • Dogs running at large
  • Unleashed dogs
  • Impounded dogs
  • Vicious or dangerous dogs
  • Deceased animals on City roads

City Pound

The City Pound is located at 490 Merecroft Road, Campbell River.

Open to the Public:

  • Monday to Friday:  4 – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed 

Access to the Pound outside these times may be arranged using the contact information above. 

Licencing of Dogs

Owners of dogs are required to licence dogs over 6 months of age.

Dog licences may be obtained at City Hall. Renewals may also be obtained online.

Off-Leash Area

The City provides areas where dog owners may exercise their dogs off-leash.  
Off-leash areas are identified in Schedule 'C' of the Animal Control Bylaw.
