WATERMAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS

Work under these renewal projects consists of installing new watermains and domestic services throughout Campbell River. These new mains are to replace the sections of the water distribution system that have reached the end of their useful service life.

Beginning mid to late March, depending upon weather, we will be completing upgrades of the watermain on Hilchey Rd. between Dalton Rd. and Hwy. 19A. This work will include excavation of the roadway and relocation of water services up to your property line. The contractor will be restoring disturbed areas upon completion of the project.

Work is targeted for completion by the end of April, 2023, followed by paving and road marking restoration.

You can expect work to be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The design work was completed under a design-bid-build model by the City’s Capital Projects and Water Departments. The construction contract was awarded to Wacor Holdings Ltd.

We anticipate changes to the flow of local traffic during construction. A traffic management plan will be reviewed by the City and implemented by Wacor Holdings Ltd. at the start of the project.

Road Closure Newsletter

A partial road closure will be in effect on Hilchey Road between Dalton Road and the Island Highway on Monday, May 1, and Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Intermittent single-lane alternating traffic will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate pavement repairs. Delays may occur. Please follow all traffic controls in place.

The City will be completing some temporary asphalt paving on Hilchey Road between Dalton Road and the South Island Highway on Monday, September 26, 2022, to repair some disturbed road surfaces from construction activities on Hilchey Road. Please expect some disruptions to traffic. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place.
