Campbell River now in stage 2 watering restrictions

Campbell River now in stage 2 watering restrictions In response to the heat wave, Campbell River’s daily water consumption has increased dramatically over the last few days. The City’s water system cannot safely meet this exceptionally high residential water demand and maintain enough water in the pipes for fire safety.

To reduce demand on the water system, the City is enacting Stage 2 watering restrictions effective immediately. This limits watering lawns, gardens, trees and shrub by irrigation to once a week.

    • Residential watering is permitted 5 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. (even-numbered addresses Monday, odd-numbered addresses Thursday)
    • Non-residential – 1 to 5 a.m. (even-numbered addresses Wednesday, and odd-numbered addresses Tuesday)

Watering gardens and plant beds by hand, or using a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle, is permitted at any time. More information at campbellriver.ca/water.

“Running a sprinkler in the backyard is not currently permitted outside watering times, but people can fill up a small pool to help keep kids cool on these hot dry days,” says Drew Hadfield, the City’s director of operations. “Also, the Splash Park remains open.”
