City staff will share learnings from engagement to date and collect additional feedback.
The City of Campbell River is firing up the grill and inviting residents to a special Open House BBQ, where folks can learn about progress made to date on the Official Community Plan (OCP) and share more ideas and feedback that will help shape the future of our community.
The OCP is the City’s long-term roadmap, guiding land use, housing, transportation, parks, and public spaces over the next 20 years. Since the project began in early 2024, staff have gathered community input, reviewed background research, and developed draft policy directions.
Join us for an evening of good food, fun activities, and meaningful conversation about Campbell River’s OCP:
- When: 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025
- Where: Campbell River Sportsplex, 1800 South Alder Street, Campbell River
- What: Family-friendly, drop-in open house with a free BBQ and bouncy castle
The event will be a chance to review key growth concepts and proposed future land uses in the draft OCP. There will be interactive displays, information boards, and City staff and planning experts available to answer questions, share what we’ve heard so far, and collect feedback. The community input from this and other events will be used to further inform the draft OCP, which will help shape Campbell River for years to come.
“Campbell River is an incredible community that I’m fortunate to call home,” says Andy Gaylor, Director of Community Planning and Livability. “As we plan for the next 20 years, it’s important to hear from residents about what matters most. Come enjoy a bite to eat, bring the family, and help shape the future of Campbell River. Your voice matters.”
The OCP update began in 2024 with background research and community engagement. Phase Two focused on vision and policy direction, including community engagement via a survey and other tools to gather ideas and priorities. That input helped refine the OCP’s vision and guiding principles in Phase Three, and we’re now starting to assemble a draft OCP.
