Statutory Notification - Notice of Public Hearing - OCP and Zoning Bylaw Amendments

    PUBLIC HEARING – 4 P.M., TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2025

The City of Campbell River is proposing OCP Amendment Bylaw 3994, 2025, and Zoning Amendment Bylaw 3995, 2025, which would implement setbacks and measures to protect the setback area for ditches within City rights of way (roadside ditches).

The setbacks and protection measures were determined by a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) in a report commissioned by the City in 2020. The report has been reviewed and accepted by the Province. The proposed amendments will only establish setbacks to ditches and do not consider ditch infill.

The OCP amendment would exempt property owners from obtaining a development permit to establish setbacks to ditches if the setbacks and measures to protect the setback area outlined in the Zoning Bylaw are followed.

The Zoning Bylaw amendment would add, as a regulatory measure, the setbacks and measures to protect the setback area as determined in the 2020 report.

A public hearing will be held at 4 p.m., on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Council Chambers at 301 St. Ann’s Road. To register to speak during the public hearing, or for more information, contact the City Clerk’s office at info@campbellriver.ca or 250-286-5700.
