Community Centre activated as a reception centre for affected residents.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the City of Campbell River Fire Department responded to a fire at Q’waxsem Place, located at 580 Dogwood Street.

While all residents of the 50-unit building were evacuated, the fire was contained to one apartment unit. No serious injuries were reported.

The City asks the public to stay away from the area and to follow all directions from City staff, emergency services personnel and on-site security as work continues to take place to assess the building.
