CITY WARMING CENTRE WILL OPEN JANUARY 11 TO 14, 2024

In response to the continued low overnight temperatures in the forecast, the City of Campbell River (the City) is re-activating a Warming Centre at the Community Centre, 401 11th Avenue. The Warming Centre will be available from 11 p.m. on the evenings of January 11, 12, 13 and 14, 2024, and run to 7 a.m. the following mornings.

The Warming Centre is open to all for short-term stays and visitors may bring pets on leashes and belongings, including bikes and carts. Hot drinks, snacks and seating will be available, however, beds will not be provided. The Warming Centre will be staffed by individuals with experience working with people experiencing homelessness to ensure necessary support is available.

The City will re-assess the need for a Warming Centre on January 15, 2024, and notify the public on the City’s website and social media channels ahead of opening. Groups with private bookings will be contacted if the Warming Centre will affect programming.

Thank you to all staff, volunteers and partners for their role during this activation.
