Make the most of your summer by registering for programs and attending City events.

The City of Campbell River (the City) Summer Recreation Guide is now available online and for download. Program registration will open at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Camps, classes, CR Live Streets, Centennial Outdoor Pool programs and much more make up the summer 2023 schedule. Whether you and yours are looking to learn, get active, play, or socialize, there is something for everyone!

“The community comes alive during the summer months and our camps and classes fill up fast! Registration opens May 19, but read the guide in advance and plan your family’s summer,” says Meghan Lawley, Recreation and Culture Program Supervisor. “We have a packed events schedule with a seven-event CR Live Streets lineup, an extensive Spirit Square concert series and the return of popular outdoor fitness activities such as Yoga in the Park. The City Recreation and Culture team is excited to welcome the community once again to participate in programs and events throughout the summer.”

The summer guide is full of activities for kids and teens to get involved with. The City offers a range of tech and STEM camps, including 2D Game Design – Drones and Science, LEGO Robotics and Science, 3D Animation, Minecraft Modding and more. For the younger crowd, Little Kids, and themed camps, including Ooey Gooey Science, Disney Dance, Ocean Explorers, Under the Sea, Lost in Space, and Around the World, are excellent options. If you’re looking for physical activities, check out the Little Yogis Camp, Youth Yoga, Buddha Buddies, and Wet and Wild Adventure Camp!

Screen printing, and industrial sewing are available for older children looking to advance their skills or learn something new. As part of the sewing program, participants will make items such as waterproof backpacks or skateboard bags. A range of pottery classes are available for adults looking to get their hands dirty and grow a practical yet beautiful skill.

CR Live Streets, an award-winning downtown event series, is back this year and better than ever. Country and Latin music nights, comedy, and art competitions - including an official Art Battle, and a headlining act to finish the series make up the line-up. CR Live Streets is complemented by River Concerts and Lunch in the Square, which takes place in Spirit Square on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer.

The Centennial Outdoor Pool is scheduled to open on June 5, 2023. Any changes due to weather will be shared.

Space is limited, so check out the guide today and be ready to register early to avoid disappointment. For more information, and to view the guide, visit www.campbellriver.ca/recreationguide.
