Climate survery open for feedback on proposed Community Climate Adaptation Plan

The City welcomes public feedback on the proposed Community Climate Adaptation Plan.

Developed by a wide-ranging group of community representatives, the draft plan is now ready for community review.

“Proactively planning for a changing climate will help address the complex challenges our community will be faced with for years to come,” says Amber Zirnhelt, the City’s Manager of Long Range Planning and Sustainability, adding. “The plan’s proposed adaptation measures aim to build resilience across Campbell River, and community members are encouraged to share their thoughts on these.”

As part of a multi-year planning initiative known as the Together for Climate project, a stakeholder group including representatives from various levels of government, First Nations, education, healthcare, emergency services, utilities, non-profit and commercial sectors, convened a series of workshops to develop a plan for responding to climate change in Campbell River. The Community Climate Adaptation Plan, which contains 13 overarching objectives and 33 direct actions, will guide arrangements and initiatives necessary to respond and adapt to climate change, such as dealing with increasingly severe storms, dangerous heatwaves, and harmful wildfire smoke. Read more...
