There will be periodic partial road closures on Hilchey Road, between Dogwood Street and Island Highway South, in effect from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The City of Campbell River has engaged Western Hydroblasting Inc. to remove road markings, including bike-lane markings, along Hilchey Road and the intersection at Parkway Drive and Alder Street South. Temporary line markings will be in place until new centre lines and road markings can be reinstalled.

The work is part of the larger Hilchey Corridor Bike Lane Improvements project. Hilchey Road will temporarily be without bike lanes after the pavement markings are removed. Installation of a new two-way, separated bike lane on Hilchey Road, between Dogwood Street and Penfield Road, and completion of a neighbourhood bikeway on adjacent local streets will also start on Monday, August 24, and is anticipated to be fully completed later this fall.

Single lane alternating traffic will be in effect. Expect delays. Follow all traffic controls in place.

If you have concerns, or to report an incident, contact dogwood.centre@campbellriver.ca or 250-286-4033.
