Open Burning Permits

The Clean Air Bylaw limits open burning in certain areas of Campbell River. Open burning is not permitted within Area A, as shown in Schedule A of the Open Air Bylaw. Recreational fires are excepted.

A recreational fire refers to the burning of wood for recreational purposes. This includes burning in a permanent outdoor fireplace, barbecue or fire pit. For a complete definition of recreational fires, please review the Clean Air Bylaw.

  • Only during daylight hours in the months of April and October.
  • Only with confirmed permission from the fire department (a permit may be required).
