Curbside Collection Schedule

The City of Campbell River provides curbside garbage, organics and recycling collection services to single-family and duplex homes through our contractor, Emterra Environmental. This service is funded by an annual collection service fee.

If you have a question about your garbage, recycling and organics service or to report a missed pickup, call Emterra at 250-286-0211.

Curbside collection happens weekly in Campbell River. The exact day of the week your waste is collected varies, as each statutory holiday pushes all collections forward one day.

You can use the tool below to find out when your garbage, recycling and organics are collected. Once you provide your home address, you'll be given information about your next collection day. You'll also be able to view a calendar of all collection days, or to download a calendar. If you want, you can also set up reminders for upcoming collection days or service alerts.

The curbside collection program is for single-family and duplex homes. These homes pay an annual collection fee. The following properties do not receive curbside collection from the City:

  • multi-family or strata properties (apartments, townhouses, and condos)
  • trailer Parks
  • triplexes/fourplexes have optional service

Cancelled Service

On occasion, the City must cancel curbside collection. This may be due to hazardous weather, or a number of other factors. In this case, waste not collected will be picked up on your next scheduled collection day.

If the City cancels curbside collection in your area, you may put out an additional 80-litre garbage container (max. 20 kg or 44 lbs) on your next schedule collection day, for no additional fee.

Due to the unexpected nature of hazardous weather, there is often not enough time to inform residents of any schedule changes. This is why the schedule is not pushed forward one day for all zones, as happens when anticipated on public holidays. We understand that this may be frustrating for the zone(s) affected, however, this is an important part of the continuity of service for the community, and we appreciate the patience of those affected.
