Fitness Classes

The City of Campbell River offers a wide variety of fitness opportunities for adults and youth with parental permission. Fitness programs are offered at both the Community Centre and Sportsplex.

Adult Fitness

All fitness classes are coed and adult-orientated. Check out our fitness schedule [PDF/1.1MB] for class times, descriptions and cost.

Youth Fitness

Youth who are 12 to 15 years old may participate in a fitness class or use the weight room with an adult or during a supervised time. Youth must attend the weight room during supervised times, or complete the Independent Youth Weight Room Orientation offered by our fitness staff. This course is offered throughout the year. Introduction to Fitness

New to our facility and not sure where to start? Let us introduce you to the weight room and cardio equipment during any supervised time for free. We know how hard it is to start something new and want you to feel comfortable with us—and we want you to come back! Check the schedule for supervised days and times. We look forward to meeting you.

Please note: If you require a personal program design, are injured, or recovering from an injury, you may need post rehabilitation or personal training. These are not included in the introduction.

Adult Weight Room Orientation

This orientation is available for patrons who want to ensure safety, comfort and appropriate use of equipment when using the Sportsplex weight room. Participants will learn basic strength training principles and the proper use of both strength and cardio machines. Please note, this is not a personal training session. Based on the number of participants, availability of equipment, etc., the course may run for 60-90 mins.

Personal Training

Personal training sessions include a series of exercises that first help evaluate and then elevate your overall health and physical status. Your trainer will develop a customized training plan to help you meet your goals.
