Campbell River Estuary
The Campbell River estuary is at the heart of the City. Since 1996, we have been working towards the deindustrialization of this habitat. Through continued partnerships, we have made strides in the restoration of this habitat. We worked with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) to restore Baikie Island, which is now being maintained by Greenways Land Trust. Read more about these projects:

Underground Residential Oil Tanks
Underground or buried residential oil tanks were commonly used in Campbell River. With a rise in the availability of alternative heating sources, it is expected that some of these storage tanks are no longer in use. This is a concern, as the old tanks are a potential source of soil and groundwater contamination. Removing tanks helps to prevent pollution and protect the value of your property. It also helps to comply with the City's Environmental Protection Bylaw [PDF/1.8MB] and the provincial Environmental Management Act.
