Parking

The City of Campbell River has a variety of parking options available downtown. These options include:

  • one- and two-hour parking time zones
  • no time limit parking zones
  • loading zones
  • disabled parking

There are also parking restrictions in Campbell River, including:

  • no parking within 6m of a stop sign
  • no parking within 5m of a fire hydrant
  • no parking in a bus zone

Parking Violations

Failure to comply with parking regulations and restrictions in Campbell River may result in you receiving a parking violation. Parking violations carry a penalty of $60 for standard violations and $120 for Handicapped Zone violations. The Traffic & Highways Regulation Bylaw [PDF/1.9MB] provides for a discount on parking violations:

  • If the fine is paid within 7 days of the violation, a $60 penalty is reduced to $15.
  • If the fine is paid within 21 days of the violation, the penalty is reduced to $30.
  • If the Handicapped Zone violation penalty is paid within 7 days of the violation, the $120 is reduced to $45
  • If the Handicapped Zone violation penalty is paid within 21 days of the violation, the penalty is reduced to $85.

City of Campbell River Bylaw Violation Notices will not affect your driving record or insurance premiums.

Paying a Parking Ticket

You may pay your parking penalty online through the Online Payments portal or in person at City Hall (301 St. Ann's Road, Campbell River, BC). Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The office is closed on statutory holidays.

If you do not pay your parking penalty, a reminder letter will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle within 30 days. If you do not pay within another 30 days, your penalty will be sent to collections and may result in a summons to appear in court.

Disputing a Ticket

You may dispute a parking violation by attending a court date. You will be given a court date in the summons that is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle if you do not pay your parking ticket for 30 days.

Towing Policy

Vehicles with five (5) or more unpaid/uncontested tickets may be towed.
