Community Gardens

Community gardens are gardens run by community organizations. Community organizations establish these gardens on plots of land with shared gardening space. If you are looking for a space to garden food crops, you can lease space in a community garden for a nominal fee.

Community gardens are inline with the Official Community Plan (OCP) as an initiative that helps create a healthier and more resilient community. The OCP identifies food self-sufficiency and individual heath as sustainability priorities, and community gardens help foster these goals.

To help support the development of community gardens, the City of Campbell River adopted the Community Garden Policy. This policy helps guide the development of new community gardens. To complement this policy, we also have a sample License of Use Agreement, as well as guidelines for partnering with interested organizations.
