The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act helps to make public bodies more accountable and to protect personal privacy by:
- giving the public a right to access records, where permissible
- giving individuals a right of access to, and a right to request correction of, personal information about themselves
The Act applies to all records in the custody or under the control of a public body, subject to exceptions identified in the Act. The City of Campbell River is a public body as defined in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
