Campbell River is now more connected than ever with the launch of Harbour Air's new scheduled daily service between Vancouver and Campbell River, providing residents, businesses and visitors with a direct, approximately 55-minute link between the two coastal communities.

The inaugural flights arrived and departed today at the Campbell River Water Aerodrome (YHH) at ʔuxstalis (Tyee Spit), where representatives from Harbour Air and the City of Campbell River, alongside tourism partners and invited guests, gathered to celebrate the new service and the opportunities it creates for the region. The event included a cultural welcome from Andrew Puglas of the Wei Wai Kum First Nation; a ribbon-cutting ceremony; remarks from Mayor Kermit Dahl, City of Campbell River, and Chief Chris Roberts, Wei Wai Kum First Nation; the arrival of Harbour Air's first scheduled flight to Campbell River and the subsequent departure of its first scheduled flight from Campbell River to Vancouver.

“This new connection makes it easier than ever for people to travel between Campbell River and downtown Vancouver, benefiting residents, businesses and visitors alike,” says City of Campbell River Mayor Kermit Dahl. “It also opens the door to one of Canada's largest tourism and business markets, creating new opportunities for our community and supporting long-term economic growth. I'd like to thank Harbour Air for investing in Campbell River, Vancouver Island Air for supporting the service, and everyone who helped bring this offering to life. We look forward to welcoming even more visitors to experience everything our community has to offer.”

The once-daily service will run from now until September 30, 2026. This new service strengthens transportation links between Campbell River and downtown Vancouver while creating new opportunities for business and leisure travel. It also adds to the diverse aviation sector already operating in Campbell River, including scheduled, charter, helicopter, seaplane and flightseeing services offered throughout the region.

"Campbell River rounds out our summer expansion and becomes our northernmost destination on Vancouver Island," said Chris Fordyce, Chief Commercial Officer at Harbour Air. "This new route opens the door to another remarkable part of the region while providing fast, convenient travel for both visitors and businesses. By bringing Campbell River and Vancouver within an hour of each other, we're making it easier than ever to experience, invest in, and stay connected to this vibrant coastal community."

The service is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism by making Campbell River's renowned fishing, wildlife viewing, golf, outdoor recreation and cultural experiences more accessible to visitors travelling from one of British Columbia's largest tourism and business markets. Travellers can now depart downtown Vancouver and arrive in Campbell River in less than an hour, with convenient access to many of the region's signature attractions shortly after landing.
