The Downtown Renewal Grant Program supports improvements that help create a vibrant, welcoming, and safe downtown. Offered in partnership with the Campbell River Downtown Business Improvement Association (DBIA), the program provides funding to eligible downtown businesses and commercial property owners for exterior building upgrades and safety-focused design improvements.
The program has two streams of funding:
- Façade Improvements — project that enhance the appearance of commercial buildings and contribute to an attractive downtown streetscape.
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Improvements — projects that improve safety and security through thoughtful exterior design.
If you are completing an exterior renovation of a commercial building and the changes represent more than 25% of your façade, then you will need a Development Permit. Your project may also be eligible for a tax exemption.
Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis and all projects must be pre-approved by the City of Campbell River before work begins.
