Campbell River citizens will elect a Mayor and six Councillors to local government for a four-year term when the 2026 Local Government Election is held on Saturday, October 17, 2026. From how to vote to how to run as a candidate, here’s what citizens need to know to prepare for the upcoming election.
Voter Information
All eligible voters are encouraged to vote on election day. The City’s website has information to help citizens determine their eligibility, register to vote, and find out what pieces of voter identification they’ll need.
To appear on the Voters List for the upcoming Local Government Election automatically, voters must register online before August 25, 2026. To register online, visit the Elections BC website. Voters will also be able to register in-person at the time of voting by completing a registration form and showing two pieces of acceptable identification (including at least one with a signature).

Candidate Information
The City’s website has information to help prospective candidates determine if they qualify to run for local government office. Information about the nomination process, campaign advertising and signage, and election financing, is also available.
The nomination process begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, and ends at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Nomination packages will be available starting on Friday, August 14, 2026. Pick one up at City Hall front reception or request one by emailing elections@campbellriver.ca.
