The City of Campbell River wishes residents a healthy, happy holiday season, with a reminder about temporary upcoming service changes and an early closure on December 24, 2025.
The City of Campbell River will be observing the Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day statutory holidays.
Facility Closures
The following facilities will close at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, and remain closed for Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, 2025. They will also be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

- Campbell River Community Centre
- Dogwood Operations Centre
- Downtown Safety Office
- Sportsplex
Garbage Collection
Curbside collection will move forward one day following December 25 and one day following January 1, 2025.
Residents may put out one additional container of garbage for curbside collection at no charge on their regular collection days between December 29, 2025, and January 9, 2026.

Christmas Tree Chipping
Local firefighters will again offer Christmas tree chipping. Bring your tree to the lower Sportsplex parking lot on Saturday, January 3, 2026, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please make sure trees are completely free of decorations.
This service is by donation to support the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund and local charities. The tree chipping service is generously donated by Steve at Budget Tree Service and the bin is donated by Uplands Contracting.
