“I’m really excited to share our Winter/Spring 2026 Recreation Guide with you! As we head into a new year, it’s the perfect time to think about how recreation and culture can be part of your plans—whether you're starting something new or continuing with your favorite activities,” says Robin Mitchell, Recreation and Culture Manager. “Spring will be here before we know it, so don’t wait to register for our March Spring Camps. And, we’ve teamed up with Strathcona Regional District to bring you the Best of Both Worlds—a fantastic mix of sports, skating, and swimming at the Sportsplex and the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex that your kids are going to love.”

Here’s a Sample of What’s Coming Up

There are activities for everyone to enjoy over the next few months. Here are a few things that you can look forward to:

  • Come hang out with us at the Sportsplex on Family Day (Monday, February 16). It’s totally free! You can try out different sports, the kids can play in the PLAY Gym, and Shoo Shoo the Clown will be there to entertain. Plus, the Kinsmen Club will be serving up a tasty breakfast!
  • Find out what all the fuss about pickleball is about! Learn the basics at Beginner Pickleball Lessons.
  • The Leaders in Training (LIT) program offers youth ages 13 to 18 an opportunity to get involved in the community through recreation. LITs will receive various training, educational, and social opportunities throughout the year to help them gain valuable and transferable skills in areas such as leadership, communication, teamwork, speaking in front of others, managing a schedule, and more! LITs volunteer at the City’s summer and spring break camps, after-school programs and special events.
  • Fitness memberships include fitness classes, yoga classes, the weight room, squash and racquetball courts, pickleball, badminton, drop-in basketball, soft tennis, table tennis and more!

New Fees Come Into Effect on January 1, 2026

From January 1, 2026, onwards, updated fees for City recreation facilities, programs and services will be in place.

Recreation programs and services help meet the social, physical, and mental health needs of the community, and the City’s goal is to ensure that fees are reasonable and fair.

We look forward to continuing to welcome community members of all ages, stages, and abilities to our facilities.
