Façade Improvements
Are you interested in updating your business façade? If so, the Downtown Façade Improvement Program may be what you need to get started.
The Downtown Façade Improvement Program is open to members of the Downtown Business Improvement Area. Through the program, you can receive a grant to renovate or redesign your commercial building façade. This program encourages investment in building upgrades, creating streetscapes that attract people and businesses to the downtown area.
Eligible applicants may apply for up to 50% of the total project cost, to a maximum of $10,000. Updates must be in line with the Design Guidelines set out by the City. These funds are available throughout the calendar year on a first-come-first-served basis.
As part of the downtown revitalization initiatives, the City of Campbell River adopted development guidelines. These guidelines help create consistency in the appearance of the downtown area. Please review the relevant guidelines and process documents before submitting your application:

If you are completing an exterior renovation of a commercial building and the changes represent more than 25% of your façade, then you will need a Development Permit. Your project may be eligible for a tax exemption.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
Crime prevention through environmental design, or CPTED, involves using design solutions to reduce fear and criminal acts in a built environment. These solutions are often simple, cost-effective, and help improve quality of life.
The CPTED Grant Program is offered in partnership with the Downtown Business Improvement Association. It funds eligible businesses and building owners in the Downtown Business Improvement Area to improve their properties through CPTED-related improvements.
