This project is in the planning stages and consists of underground utility replacement and contemplates roadway and active transportation improvements if funding becomes available. The work is anticipated to take place along Erickson Road from South Island Hwy. to Nature Park Drive. Martin Road underground utility renewals are planned should funding become available. Phase 1: Underground Utility Renewal– Watermain replacement, Storm Drain relocation, Road and Boulevard restoration to match existing conditions. Minor improvements where applicable from Larwood Creek crossing to the PRV station west of Nature Park Drive. (Funded) 2025-2026
Phase 2: Surface Standardization – Involves standardizing the road corridor surface to include sidewalks, street lighting, curbs, multi-use path, and intersection improvements for safety and consistency along the major collector roadway from Larwood Creek crossing to the PRV station west of Nature Park Drive. Phase 3: Surface Improvements –Surface improvements to continue with Standardization of Phase 2 work area on Erickson Road from Dogwood St. to Nature Park Dr and from Larwood Creek to South Island Highway to connect active transportation, pedestrian pathways, lighting, and lane geometry at or near intersections. Replace watermain from Larwood Creek to Island Hwy and along Martin Road. (Partially funded) 2028

The work focuses on replacing the aging watermain and improving the storm drainage system in the area. We are currently in the planning stage of this project. If funding becomes available, the project may include improving the existing roadway and active transportation modes along this corridor.
The project will take place along Erickson Road from Island Highway South to Nature Park Drive. Once detailed design and archaeological investigations are complete and permits are issued, the City anticipates construction to commence in late 2025. Martin Road underground utilities renewals are also planned, should funding become available for this work.
The City has partnered with Highland Engineering Services Ltd. to provide engineering, surveying and project management services. The City has also actively engaged our local First Nations Partners. A contractor has not been selected and a public tender for this project will be posted when the scope and budget are approved by Council.
