Sign Bylaw Re-WriteProject Description

To ensure the City’s Sign Bylaw encourages high quality, imaginative and innovative sign designs that meet the needs and wants of businesses, citizens and visitors of Campbell River, the City is undertaking an update of the current Sign Bylaw.

Project Rationale

The purpose of a Sign Bylaw is to regulate the number, size, location and form of signs within the City. The City of Campbell River’s Sign Bylaw was last revised in 2007. Since that time, it has become apparent that the bylaw needs updating to reflect changes in the desire for certain types of signage, but to also reflect the diversity of areas in the City such as Downtown and the Village Centres.

Online Survey and Open House

Feedback gathered through an online survey to collect comments from residents and business people will be used to guide the drafting of the new bylaw. The survey is available from January 11th to February 12th, 2016 and can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7CCVPTG. You can pick up a paper copy of the survey at City Hall.

A draft of the bylaw will be presented to the business community for feedback in early 2016 and a public open house will be held in March, where City staff will be available to answer questions and collect public input.
