The City of Campbell River reports on various climate initiatives.
Carbon Neutral Plan
Campbell River is one of 179 BC local governments that have committed to the BC Climate Action Charter. The Charter requires that we take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and become carbon-neutral in municipal operations.
The Carbon Neutral Plan guides our efforts to reduce green house gas emissions.

Climate Reports
Under the BC Climate Action Charter, the City of Campbell River is required to publicly report on municipal climate action initiatives.
This report is submitted to the Province for the City’s Local Government Climate Action Program funding (LGCAP), which provides a gas tax rebate. As per the City’s Carbon Neutral Strategy, this grant money is directed back towards future climate action projects. Agricultural Plan
The Agricultural Plan supports the SCR: Framework priority of food self-sufficiency. The plan establishes a vision and potential actions to guide the City in creating an environment to grow a resilient agriculture section in Campbell River. The plan includes a target to have the capacity to produce 10% of our own food by 2031. This would allow the agriculture sector to directly contribute significantly to the value of the local economy.
