Fireworks Permits

Are you planning your own fireworks event? A permit is required and applications must be submitted at least two weeks prior to use. Cost per permit is $40.

Instructions: Please read Fireworks Regulation Bylaw 3297, 2007 and then download the applicable application form below to a computer. For best results, use Internet Explorer. Applicaitons can be filled out, signed digitally, and emailed using the "Submit" button on the form. You may also print the application, fill it out,  and then scan and email the completed copy to craig.idiens@campbellriver.ca. If you are unable to submit the form via email, a signed paper copy can be dropped off at the #1 Fire Station, 675 13th Ave, using the drop box at the front door. If you have any questions, please call the Campbell River Fire Department at 250-286-6266.

Applicants will be emailed an invoice and online payment instructions.

 

Open Burning Permits

Clean Air Bylaw
Open burning is NOT permitted within the area of the City of Campbell River identified as Area A shown in Schedule A of the bylaw linked above, with the exception of a recreational fire.

  • A recreational fire means the burning of wood for recreational purposes in a permanent outdoor fireplace, barbecue or fire pit not larger than 60 centimeters (24 inches) in diameter that is designed and constructed to confine the fire and is suitable for such a purpose, or within a fully enclosed burner or similar device. Recreational fires shall include fires used for the purposes of cooking food and the provision of heat.

For a more detailed look at the bylaw's Schedule A map showing Area A and Area B, view the City's Real Estate Map. Using the map layers on the left side, scroll down and select "Clean Air Bylaw No. 3293 Boundary." 

For any fire larger than a recreational fire, regulations include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Only on properties in Area B of the map provided in the Clean Air Bylaw
  • Only during daylight hours in the months of April and October
  • Only with confirmed permission from the fire department (a permit may be required)
  • Only when the Ministry of Environment's Venting Index conditions are good
  • Only when the open burning complies with all applicable municipal and provincial legislation such as the Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation for BC.
