The Campbell River Fire Department is made up of five divisions: Fire Administration, Fire Operations, Fire Prevention, Emergency Management and Fire Dispatch.

The Fire Administration Division is responsible for department policy, procedures and operational guidelines, finance and budget, Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy (FOIPPA) requests, recruitment and human resources.

The Fire Operations Division is responsible for fire suppression, fire training, technical rescue, vehicle rescue, medical response, hazardous materials response, apparatus and fleet maintenance, and facility maintenance.

The Emergency Management Division coordinates with the Strathcona Regional District Emergency Program Coordinator for all aspects of the City’s Emergency Program including training, emergency operations center (EOC), emergency communications, emergency exercises and grant funding.

The Fire Dispatch Centre is responsible for dispatch services to 62 fire departments covering approximately 175,000 square kilometres from Central Vancouver Island to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, including the Powell River area and the Northern Gulf Islands as well the Peace River Regional District in Northern BC. The fire dispatch center also provides after-hours dispatch to the City of Campbell River Public Works and Utilities.

The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for fire prevention, fire inspections, development plan review, fire investigations, and public education.
