Meet , a familiar face to many people in Campbell River because he has dedicated more than 50 years to enhancing quality of life in our community.

Bill first came to Campbell River in 1965 and has participated on numerous committees, boards, charitable organizations and small businesses. Bill was a member of the municipal Council for 24 years and has been named a Freeman, the highest honour a city can bestow. He’s also been named Citizen of the Year twice.

Bill says his greatest success is the satisfaction of seeing Campbell River flourish and become what it is today. He’s inspired by a duty to give back for what has been given to him, a great life in a great city.

“To have a successful community, you need to have various people who are willing to dedicate themselves to make where we live a great place,” says Bill.

For the future of Campbell River, Bill focuses on more success thanks to the vigorous and positive attitudes of young entrepreneurs and the number of small businesses.

As a member of the Waterfront Task Force, Bill feels confident with the process the City is undertaking for the 3.5-acre lot.

“As a city, we have taken advantage of opening up our waterfront to the public. It is important to have public accessibility to the ocean and all other amenities,” he says.

Open house event Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Campbell River Community Centre Lounge (401-11th Ave.) will present the Waterfront Task Force’s vision for the 3.5 acre site that has grown through the public consultation process and incorporates the community’s ideas. The long-term planning and development framework for this property will also be shared. There will be an opportunity for public feedback.
