WFT Sewer Part 2_IconThe waterfront sewer main, built in 1972, is a critical piece of infrastructure that needs to be replaced to support new growth in the community and help protect the waterfront. Work on Phase 1 of the Waterfront Sewer Project was completed in December 2018, and included installation of a new sewer main between the Maritime Heritage Centre and 1st Avenue.

Work on Part 2 of the project is now complete for 2019. It will extend the new sewer installation from 1st Avenue to near the Big Rock Boat Ramp. Construction work will generally move from south to north along the route, and is expected to be complete in Fall 2019.

In 2020, two new lift stations are scheduled to be constructed – sites are not yet confirmed.
