The previous Master Transportation Plan was completed by Ward Consulting Group in 2004. In 2011, in conjunction with the Sustainable Official Community Plan, the City is in the process of updating the plan with Urban Systems Ltd. In an attempt to be more sustainable, the new plan includes chapters on walking, cycling, transit, the street network and travel demand management. Future transportation improvements are included for each mode of transportation in an attempt to encourage walking, cycling and taking Transit.
DOWNTOWN & CAMPBELLTON AREA TRANSPORTATION NETWORK & PARKING PLAN

The Downtown and Campbellton Area Transportation Network and Parking Plan was completed by Opus Hamilton in 2007. This report includes recommendations for improvements to traffic flows and parking.
DOWNTOWN STUDY

The Downtown Study for the City of Campbell River was completed by Downs/Archambault & Partners Architects January 2006. Implementation of the recommendations of the Downtown Study is one of the operational priorities of Council’s 2007 Strategic Plan, with the main result being to encourage residential development in the targeted areas of the downtown, and to make the downtown a more lively, interesting and liveable place to be. Benefits will include constructive long term opportunities for redevelopment in Downtown Campbell River, better integrated pedestrian access and vehicular movement in the downtown and improvements to public spaces and development of a village commons area to give the downtown a focal point.

The South Island Highway (19A) Conceptual Design – Phase 2 report was completed by Lanarc Consultants in 2005. The report outlines a general plan for Highway 19A between Jubilee Parkway to 1st Avenue. In summary, the report considers a 3 lane cross-section, with bike lanes, sidewalk, an expanded Sea Walk, undergrounding Hydro lines, and additional parking locations. A portion of Phase 2 was completed in 2010 (between Hilchey and Rockland).

The Master Transportation Plan was completed by Ward Consulting Group in 2004. This plan outlines future transportation improvements including a review of the road network, traffic controls, truck and dangerous goods routes, bicycle routes, traffic calming and access guidelines.
The City is currently updating our Master Transportation Plan in parallel with the Sustainable Official Community Plan update.
