Dick Murphy Park Restoration and Dev Project

The City of Campbell River received $1.4 million from the Canada/British Columbia Infrastructure Program for a $2.1 million restoration and development project for Dick Murphy Park. The $2.1 million allowed the City to complete the first two phases of the long-range plan for the park and complete a walkway that connects the Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre to Dick Murphy Park.

The first two phases completed with the support of the Canadian and Provincial Governments has included the removal of invasive plants, replaced by indigenous plant species. The plans also included creating more and improved bird and fish habitat, environmental and historical education through interpretive signage and "look out" venues.  This project also included the construction of a multi-use path that connects the natural park setting of Dick Murphy Park with the cruise ship terminal and the Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre.

Thanks to the support of the Federal and Provincial Governments the City of Campbell River will be able to complete the long-range plans for the development of Dick Murphy Park much more quickly than originally anticipated.
