Groups within the community meet to recognize and encourage the City's beautification, environmental awareness, and other criteria, which helps to enhance the surrounding area.

Community Beautification Committee

The Community Beautification Committee meets once a month to discuss community beautification matters and make recommendations to Council.  Their portfolio includes the following programs:

  • Adopt-a-Highway
  • Banner Program
  • Beautification Certificate-Business and Individual Recognition
  • Communities in Bloom
  • Community Beautification
  • Downtown Ambassadors
  • Downtown Lighting

    Communities in Bloom Competition

    The City of Campbell River entered the annual National Communities in Bloom competition and is proud to have received 5 out of 5 blooms for 2009.  The community was judged on eight categories, which included:

  • Tidiness
  • Landscaped Areas
  • Turf and Groundcovers
  • Tree/Urban Forest Management
  • Natural & Cultural Heritage Preservation
  • Floral Displays
  • Community Involvement
  • Environmental Awareness
  • The City was awarded a special mention for Volunteer Effort-Conservation and Community Culture and 1st place Nationally in Community Involvement.

    The Communities in Bloom is a Canada-wide non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing community projects that involve heritage, environmental awareness and beautification.  We are looking forward to continuing to compete and invite all residents and business to participate by providing beautiful groomed gardens and commercial areas.
