Parks & Facilities

Park Maintenance

Working out of the Parks & Recreation Department, the Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance of all municipal park facilities and administration of the Legacy Landmarks Program.

The park facilities include over 55 hectares of developed green space ranging from passive park areas such as the Foreshore Park and Municipal Hall grounds to full athletic facilities like Willow Point Park. In addition to maintaining these traditional parks, the Parks Department is also responsible for the maintenance of street trees, bike paths and both municipal cemeteries.

Some of the maintenance tasks performed by the Parks crews are:

  • Turf maintenance such as mowing, fertilizing and top-dressing
  • Flower and shrub bed maintenance
  • Irrigation system installation and repair
  • Street tree pruning
  • Interments
  • Garbage pick-up
Parks crews are also responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of all playgrounds, tennis courts, fences and backstops.

Dogs in Campbell River Parks
Bylaw #660:
Dogs are allowed in municipal parks and must be on a leash and under the control of their owner or handler at all times. Please stoop and scoop your dog's excrement and deposit in a trash can. To assist in this matter, clean up bags are available in many parks and along the Seawalk. Animals are not permitted in tot-lots, on Discovery Pier or within 50 feet of any playground apparatus. Dogs are not allowed in parks during special events, at the discretion of the event organizer.
These regulations do not apply to a hearing, seeing or physically impaired person accompanied by a guide dog or working dog.
The City of Campbell River wants everyone to enjoy the use of your park and beaches.

Sand Volleyball Courts

Willow Point Parks has two sand volleyball courts located beside the Sportsplex.  The courts are available on a first come first served basis.  There is no charge to use the courts.  Loaner volleyballs are available at the Sportsplex front desk.  These courts were funded in part by Campbell River CRUSH Volleyball.
