When is a Variance needed?
When a particular application by virtue of a site regulation such as a setback from a property line, site coverage, height or other regulation will not comply with the Zoning Bylaw, a variance may be requested.

Where do I find information on Building Requirements?
Each property in the City of Campbell River has specific zoning regulations which regulate setbacks, building heights, lot coverage, permitted uses, etc.  Check the zoning map for the existing zoning of your property and then check the Zoning Bylaw to find the regulations for that zone.  See Bylaw 3250 for zoning regulations.

Am I in an environmentally sensitive area?
If you are building or developing near a stream or watercourse, you may need a Minor Development Permit.
