There is more to being a Campbell River Firefighter than just coming to work.
The basic job of a Firefighter is to help others. This trait leads them to continue serving the community by volunteering their time to causes within the city and to the BCPFF Burn Fund. Total funds raised by the Campbell River Firefighters in 2007 were over $37,000 with over 595 volunteer hours put in.
Fashion Inferno
The Firefighters largest fundraiser of the year is the Fashion Inferno, which includes a catered dinner, fashion show, silent and live auctions, and many more fun activities ending the night on the dance floor. The proceeds from the Inferno go to the BCPFF Burn Fund.
Raffle Drives
Local 1668 ran two raffle drives in 2007. One sent a lucky couple to Toronto, with Rod Brind'Amour supplied tickets to watch the Toronto Maple leafs play the Carolina Hurricanes, while the other prize was a trip for two to Mexico.
Other Community Events
While the BCPFF Burn Fund is close to the hearts of Firefighters, great pride is also taken from being involved with local charities that do such great work for our community. Local 1668 is proud to donate time and money to Relay For Life, Special Olympics, Rotary Club, CR Hospital Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis and doctors traveling to third world countries to perform much needed surgeries.
