The responsibility for local government is vested in a Mayor and six Councilors who collectively make up the City of Campbell River Council. A general election is held every three years, with the most recent election held Nov. 19, 2011. The function of Council is to establish corporate policy and to set direction for the community. This is achieved through the annual Strategic Plan, Financial Plan, Council Policies and Bylaws. Implementation of Council Policy is delegated to the Chief Administrative Officer who is responsible for the actions of all staff.
