Risk Management
Working with the City's insurers, Bylaw/Property Services provides advice and assistance to City Council and staff to implement policies and procedures which will help ensure safe practices as the City's work is carried out. The objective is to minimize the City's exposure to the risk of claims being made against the City.
Legal Claims
If you believe you have a valid claim against the City for property damage or personal injury, you must comply with the notice requirements of the Municipal Act. Section 286 requires you to give notice in writing within two months of the date when your damage or injury occurred. The notice must give details of the time, place and manner in which the damage was sustained.
