Frequently Asked Questions relating to doing business with the City of Campbell River and the City's purchasing policies.
How does the City buy?
The City of Campbell River's Supply Management Department is responsible for the procurement of goods and services across the organization.
Supply Management may:
-
Contact vendors to request an informal quotation for goods and/or services; or
-
Issue formal documents (RFO, RFP, Tender) electronically on
BC Bid or the
Bid Opportunities section of the City's website.
Vendors are responsible for staying informed of current or upcoming procurement opportunities. In some cases, consistent with industry practice, Supply Management may contact selected known vendors to ensure they are informed of upcoming opportunities as they are posted electronically.
To assist vendors in staying up to date, the City does maintain a subscription service through
Bid Opportunities however the City does not have the resources to personally contact all potential proponents of all opportunities.
What Policies and Regulations apply to the City's procurement practices?
The City's Purchasing Policy outlines the requirements for all City purchases.
The City is subject to the provisions of the Federal Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) and the BC/Alberta Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA).
The City is also subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. As a result, while Section 21 of the Act does offer some protection to third party business interests, the City cannot guarantee that any information provided to the City can be held in confidence.
How do you get the opportunity to supply the City with goods and/or services? All Requests For Offers (RFO), Tenders, and Requests For Proposal (RFP) competitions are posted electronically on the
Bid Opportunities section of the City's website and are automatically sent to each proponent that has registered for that area of business on our website. Notifications for each competition are also posted on
BC Bid. Any business interested in becoming a vendor for the City is invited to view, download, and respond to opportunities posted.
