You need to apply for a Development Permit when you want to develop or subdivide a property located within a Development Permit Area, or when you want to amend an existing Development Permit. There are two types of permits:
Minor Development Permit: (MIP)
This includes all multiple family applications under 10 dwellings units, the subdivision of land, natural resource preservation, floodplain and risk slope areas, local convenience stores and commercial applications under 1000 square feet.
Major Development Permit: (MJP)
This includes all commercial development of 1000 square feet and larger, all industrial development, all multiple family developments of 10 or more dwelling units, development permits involving development variances, all phased development applications, and any combinations of major and minor Development Permits.
Temporary Commercial/Industrial Land Use Permits: (TCP)
A Temporary Commercial or Industrial Use Permit may allow any commercial or industrial use, including in the case of a commercial use, the provision of temporary tourist accommodation, and in the case of an industrial use, the processing of natural materials, as specified in the permit; permit the construction or temporary use of buildings or structures as specified in the permit; and, specify conditions under which the temporary commercial or industrial use may be carried on.
